Gosh, it has been forever since I’ve had chance to sit down and write a blog! I feel like it was just spring and before I knew it, summer came and went!
I hope you all had a magical summer – filled with memories, fun times, and lots of laughter. That’s exactly what’s been going on around here! Let me catch y’all up on what we’ve been up to since our last blog post!
Our spring was one of EPIC proportions! We were blessed to be chosen from hundreds of applicants to be a part of Southern Charm at the Farm –one of THE largest events on the East Coast – and by far the largest show we have ever been a part of! And let me tell you, it did not disappoint!
SCATF is held twice a year in Clemmons, NC, and when I first came across the event on Facebook I knew I wanted our little business to be a part of it. You have to apply months in advance and the competition is fierce but I took a leap of faith and applied last fall. I stalked their Facebook page for weeks and when the day came when they finally announced who had been accepted, I cried like a baby! I couldn’t believe it! To say that we were excited for this show is a HUGE understatement! We spent weeks pouring inventory and fine tuning our booth display. When it was finally show time, we were ready!
As the show opened for the day, there was a line with dozens, if not hundreds of people waiting in it! We were absolutely floored by the turnout – THOUSANDS of people came out and boy did they shop! We broke yet another single day sales record & made so many new friends! And we’re so excited to announce that we were invited to come back to their Fall show in October!
The rest of our spring and most of our summer have been pretty quiet! We took our first ever family vacation to Daufuskie Island, SC, and it was the trip of a life time for us. If you’ve never heard of Daufuskie, it’s a beautiful island located off the coast of Hilton Head. You aren’t allowed to bring your car on to the island unless you live there and with only a handful of little shops on the island, you literally have to come with EVERYTHING you need to live for a week!
I personally took the week has a chance to unplug and disconnect from the outside world for a little while. I turned off or uninstalled most of the apps on my phone and just used for the camera, email, and an actual phone LOL I read books and magazines, played games and watched movies with my kiddos, and spent the week just being present. The whole experience was eye opening to just how addicted l am to my phone! But the time I got with my sweet family and the memories we made were absolutely priceless.
Back to work
After vacation, we made a few appearances at our favorite local farmers market, the Grandin Village Farmers Market, throughout the summer. Getting to see so many familiar faces who had shopped with us there before was such a treat, along with lots of loyal local customers who took the opportunity to hunt us down and stock up on their favorites. And of course we made tons of new friends too!
Boss Babes Unite!
Another highlight of the summer for us was being invited to help celebrate a local shop’s one year anniversary with a special pop up shop night! Bittersweet is a super chic & trendy boutique located in the heart of the Downtown Roanoke Market. Their fabulous owner, Paula, reached out to us and a few other local women owned businesses to invite us to their one year anniversary celebration. When I say it was a blast, I am not kidding!
Getting the chance to network with local boss babes like the Treehouse Collaborative & Wild Violet Vintage had me feeling all the feels! Oh and did I mention the makeovers from Polished by Claire V. & yummy cocktails? YES PLEASE!
Nights like that are what dreams are made of for this girl! If you haven’t had a chance to check out any of these local businesses, PLEASE do so soon! Shopping local is so incredibly important and we are blessed to have some incredible places in our own backyard!
Orders, orders, & more orders!
When we weren’t busy getting ready for events, we were busy filling website orders and working on wedding & shower favors all summer long! We have been so blessed to work with some beautiful brides & sweet mommas to help celebrate such special occasions in their lives.
I wish I could find the words to adequately describe what an honor it is to get to be a part of events like weddings and baby showers. Be sure to check out our Instagram page to see some of our most recent projects. My business BFF, Whitney, from Saved By Grace Co. does ALL of our design work for our labels and each one turns out absolutely gorgeous!
One last show...
We closed out our summer of fun with our first ever show in Charlottesville with the awesome folks at Craft Cville! We spent the day making some fabulous new friends and meeting some crazy talented makers. We did a sneak peek of some of our Fall Collection and got some pretty rave reviews so I think it’s safe to say we are officially ready for fall!
We're ready for fall!
